Charlotte Posner is an artist from London who we recently collaborated with on a set of limited edition paintings. We met up with her to talk about the process and why she wanted to work with our Little Miss characters.

What is your first memory of the Mr. Men and Little Misses?

My first memory of Mr. Men and Little Miss was when I was about 9 years old. I clearly remember going into to my older cousins bedroom and seeing his full collection of Mr. Men books lined up on his window seal, in its boxset. I used to take each book out, one by one, to see each character, and I fell in love with them! The Mr. Men books are a strong memory of my childhood!

How did you come up with the idea for the piece?

I love working with and collaborating with brands, and when I saw Mr Men partnering with Upfest and the graffiti artist Cheo for their 45th anniversary, I wanted to be a part of it as well. Once I had the idea of combining my favourite Little Miss characters with my Posner Pop Dolls, I haven't looked back since.

I started with drawing and sketching different versions out, combining five different Little Miss mixed with my Posner Pop Dolls. I arranged the Little Miss as heads/hats, before moving them into print onto the PopDolls dresses - rearranging the scale of the figures, changing colour, moving elements and sizes of dresses, and adding different aspects of colour and details to each one until it looked right to me. After going back and forth with the designers in the London head office a few times, we agreed on a few tweaks, and then we had it… the final version of the collaboration!

What character are you most like?

What a hard question! I think I can narrow it down to a combination of Little Miss Lucky, Little Miss Sunshine and Little Miss Fun.

Little Miss Lucky because I seem to be in the right place and the right time. I do believe you create your own good luck by putting yourself in situations and pushing yourself.

Little Miss Fun, Because who doesn't like having fun? I love to always have fun in every aspect of my life, this project was a lot of fun, and I hope that comes out in the work!

Little Miss Sunshine because I love the sunshine and I am a through and through optimist! I love to always laugh and smile.

What was your favourite part of the collaboration?

My favourite part of the collaboration was seeing the last few stages come together so perfectly, and finally adding the Swarovski crystals! I am so happy with the finished paintings. I love the way the Little Miss characters work with my Pop Dolls. We have created 45 Limited Edition hand painted originals, which are collectables, and this project means a lot to me.
